I hope This Site Is Better Than Some Of The Sites I Have Been On

I hope this site is better than some of the other sites I have been on. I am on some sites and no one with hydrocephalus talks to me. If they do they talk to me once and that is it. It can get really frustrating. I hope here I can find people with hydrocephalus to talk to.

My Hydrocephalus Story

My name is Jennifer. I am 25. Here is my story

I was born January 31st 1984. I weighed 2lbs 2ozs. I was diagnosed either in utero or right after birth with hydrocephalus. My biological mother didn't want me so she gave me up for adoption to her sister. When her sister was notified of my bith her and another sister came to the hospital. They didn't ask about me because they just knew I was dead. When they got to the hospital they nurse asked them if they wanted to see the baby and they said what baby and the nurse said your baby. When they went back to see me, they couldn't hold me. I was so tiny. My adopted mom who you will hear me call mom told me they kept measuring my head. It just kept getting bigger. The doctors decided to put a VP shunt in to drain the fluid. About a month later I got to go home. I had to go back to the doctor at least 3 times a week to have the shunt checked. When everything was ok. I was a normal person. I had to have physical therapy to strengthen my arms and leg muscles. I went to an early head start program. I went to elementary school. I was in special education to get help with classes. I played little league basketball in the 5th and 6th grade. When I was five or six I had to go into the hospital and have my shunt tubing lengthened. I was in special education also in middle school and high school. I played soccer in high school. I love sports. I have two older brothers my mom had them before she adopted me. They are awesome. They treat me like I am their biological sister. I currently work at a grocery store as a cashier. I haven't worked since November. I had to have back surgery. I had a herniated disc. I would like to connect with others with hydrocephalus. I am 25.
